Ethnobotany Department:

Activities

The following units set up the Ethnobotany department :Taxonomy and Herbarium Unit, Heritage, Ethnoecology & Ethnopharmacology Unit. And Farming & Botanical Garden Unit.

Designing and carrying out research plans as summarized below:

Identify samples and provide information by extensive literature search needed for plants
Organizing and classifying of plants and prepare samples to be permanently hosted in the herbarium for further documentation.
Collect information on Ethnopharmacology by interviewing herbalists in various places
Perform field trips & survey, which includes recording the distribution of species, assessing the abundance of species and collecting of plant species
Acquiring data and protecting, analyzing, organizing the data into special data bases
Collecting plants in bulk for further Research.
Perform herbal market survey
Follow standard procedures to assure Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in all fields of concerned research
Responsible for incoming plant samples or others
Involved in writing monograph of information on samples as well as Scientific paper to be published in related journal
Design and assist to establish the botanical garden
Introduce the complex to assigned visitors
Organizing cultural and educational activities
Participate and supervise training of students
Participate and supervise training of students
Establish excellent relations with concerned departments and institutes
Participate in community service activities and events
